Hello All,
I have used this site and a couple others for 2 months now to gather info and insight on which tactor to buy. I have never owned or driven a tractor before 2 weeks ago. I had my local John Deere and Kubota Dealers drop off demos for me last weekend. I bought 2 acres in Upper Lake, Ca. 30 miles from Ukiah and 3 hours from San Francisco. I am a Weekend Warrior as I own a Millwork Company in San Francisco and stay in the City 4 days a week and then join my Lovely Wife on the Weekends.

My Wife and I are going to Plant Fruit and nut trees. We are also going to have organic vegies and cut flowers. We also want to have chickens and Goats.

Any way I tested a JD 4210 HST and a Kubota 3130 GST.
I spent last weekend cleaning up all the brush and debris that the last owner left behind. My wife and I used both tractors to make a big burn pile and had a huge bonfire.

I found that both my wife and I liked HST trans but we thought the Kubota was a better put togeather Tractor.

So after much agonizing about which trans and spending so much money I bite the bullet. So this is what I ended up with:

Kubota 3430 HST with 723 Loader GA HD Bucket ( Rental Return with 56 hours ) $19,000

Gearmore BB72 Box Scraper $705

Bush Hog 2102 Post Hole Digger with 9 & 12" augers $1,150

Gearmore E-60 Tiller $1758

Gearmore QE Forklift atrtchment $813.00

How do those prices sound to all of you?

Just wanted to Thank all of you guys for helping me to make my decision, It allways takes me a long time to buy something but, to have this site helped me out more than I can say.

Mark

I think you have enough equipment to handle 20 acres! For just being a weekend warrier what are you going to do after the first month? Good Luck! ....

Well As a matter of fact the I am going to by the 8 acres directly behind us that will be for sale in about 6 months.
It has a walnut orchard on it and goes all the way down to a creek.

My first task with the new tractor is to out in about 1500 feet of Corral style fence to keep my dogs in and the deer and coyotes out.

We also want to build a new Post and Beam house and a pole barn where a small shed is now.

So I guess I will be keeping my self pretty busy.
